Much of today was spent on the road.  We’re spending Christmas with my parents this year and then heading North to visit his parents.  Wish that our parents didn’t live in Kent and Lancashire as we end up spending so much time travelling.  We would have Christmas at ours, but none of our relatives can ever be bothered to come visit us (funny how they expect us to drive miles for them numerous times a year).  When people ask what we’ll feel like when we move to Oz and none of the family is nearby I always say it’ll make no difference as it doesn’t matter if we live 3 hrs or 3 days away they still won’t come visit!  With all the fog it was hellish driving home and there were accidents all over the place, it ended up taking 1.5hrs longer than usual.  Bah humbug ;)

Summary of the day: Packed up the place (no presents or anything worth stealing left behind if you happen to be a burglar thinking about casing our joint!!!), Sat in a car, Went over to an uncle’s house for Laksa (sort of curry soup noodles)

Went down to London to see Spamalot today.  Was absolutely brilliant.  Hilarious and lots of fun.  If you’ve seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail it’s sort of based on that.  The woman who played the Lady of the Lake was fabulous.  It’s the most un-PC thing I think I’ve ever seen, but I guess we’ve got acclimatised to the peculiarity of Python.  Almost bought a “Fetchez la vache” T shirt (the one with cows flying on it) but thought better of it.

Summary of the day: Went to London, Met parents for lunch at Caffe Uno, Laughed and laughed and laughed some more at Spamalot, Made amends with the grumpy dog by feeding her a sausage.

Visiting my parents this weekend.  It’s only when you have lived outside of London for a while that you notice that there is actually a different state of mind required in order to drive through the London streets without a. getting road rage, b. getting road raged at and/or c. not actually getting anywhere because you can’t get into the correct lane!!

City drivers with 4×4 off road vehicles… why?  I suppose you could think that you were on safari, what with all the fast creatures diving and weaving in front of you.  Went past one today which had tinted out windows and it actually had a golden chavved up badge on the side that said “pimp” in script font.  Yikes.  Wish I’d have taken a photo of it.  Wonder if it had burberry patterned upholstery inside.

Why is it that if you are on a dual carriageway and you get to a set of traffic lights, when you get across the traffic lights there are not the same number of lanes on the other side?  Causing no end of confusion as people end up cutting each other up either squeezing into less lanes, or trying to squeeze into the RH lane to overtake the slow-reaction movers.

Buses and taxis are a world unto themselves.  Why do they always seem to pull out just as you are coming alongside the vehicle to overtake and then to add insult to injury they don’t bother indicating until after they have pulled out.  If you don’t at least pretend that you are contemplating overtaking then the cars behind you beep.  Damned if you do, damned if you don’t!

So in summary … London driving, you just can’t win!  I’m coming down by train next time.

Summary of the day: Drove down to London, Went out for Dim Sum lunch, Went to a Chinese Supermarket, Visited parents, Went to an Uncle’s 60th Birthday Bash.
